Every employee deserves to know where they stand in terms of future opportunities. At Best Buy the expectation for our leaders is that they recognize and develop the talent on their team. This means, every manager needs to know their employee as an individual and as part of a pool of talent. The Talent Inventory process encourages leaders to take an individualized, differentiated approach to employee management and development. It also provides the organization with a snapshot of our current talent inventory. Quarterly check-ins are an opportunity to discuss an employee's aspirations and their readiness to achieve these aspirations. When determining the employee's development designation, consider the following: work experience, performance against goals and expectations, near-term and future career aspirations, strengths and what they are uniquely good at and development opportunities. Managers and employees should have conversations about specific development opportunities to help the employee improve performance in their current role and increase their readiness for future desired roles. |
